Who I am - Ann E Heelan, BA Arts, Masters in Training and Education.
I am a consultant, writer and speaker on Inclusive Education Practice and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) for all students. Originally a teacher and then CEO of AHEAD for 20 Years, I have a track record of working in partnership with national and international organisations on topics such as “Building Inclusive Learning Spaces”, “Getting Started with UDL” and “Developing your UDL Practice”.
In my role in AHEAD, I have worked with staff in further and higher education, supporting them to try out new approaches to make their practice more inclusive.
This year I have been working with SOLAS on behalf of AHEAD to research and write the SOLAS publication on UDL for FET which SOLAS are due to publish early in 2021.
Winner of the Miriam Van Acker Award for Innovation in Inclusive Education 2017
The award recognises my leadership in promoting inclusive practice for students with disabilities in higher education and employment.
